113-16 Polysomnography Tech

LOCATION: Lexington Clinic Sleep Center
DEPARTMENT: Sleep Center
The Polysomnographic Tech functions as a member of the patient care team, contributing to the health management of the patients; performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for Clinic patients, many in assistance to section physicians; maintains primary responsibility for performing Clinical Polysomnographic procedures and the operation and care of the Sleep department. Contributes to patient and department compliance with Federal and all other health plan’s patient management objectives.
Formal training which will probably be indicated by graduation from an accredited Neurophysiology program, or a 2 year AMA approved program for Respiratory Care; BRPT eligible; basic life support and CPR certifications; minimum two years broad experience with emphasis in Respiratory or Neurophysiology techniques; completion of qualified sleep disorders training program or equivalent; willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction; ability to communicate effectively; and ability to work compatibly with physicians, other department members, and clinic employees in other departments.
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to twelve hours per day; assist patients in turning, assist patient in arising from exam bed, push wheelchair patients, and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair; manual dexterity and motor coordination; read and understand medical information.
