John McMullen, Director of Orthopedic Services | John McMullen has been with the Lexington Clinic Orthopedics – Sports Medicine department since 1991 and with The Shoulder Center of Kentucky since its inception. He received his Bachelor of Science in Health Education from James Madison University in 1983 and received his Master of Science from Northeastern University in 1987. He has worked as an athletic trainer, sports medicine manager, physical therapy manager and orthopedic services manager and is now director of orthopedic services.
John works closely with the orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists of Lexington Clinic in research and development regarding shoulder function and dysfunction that is fundamental to The Shoulder Center of Kentucky philosophy. He has published and presented locally, regionally and nationally on various topics of shoulder and scapular function, dysfunction and rehabilitation.

Aaron Sciascia, MS, ATC, NASM-PES | Aaron Sciascia has been the program coordinator for the Lexington Clinic Orthopedics-Sports Medicine Center since 2003 and is currently the Coordinator of The Shoulder Center of Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky. He is certified as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist and is an adjunct professor and approved clinical instructor for Eastern Kentucky University’s accredited athletic training education program. He currently serves as the secretary of the Kentucky Athletic Trainers’ Society and was appointed to the Kentucky Advisory Council on Athletic Trainers by Kentucky governor Steven Beshear in 2009. Aaron is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, as well as the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists.

Michael Howell, Throwing Clinic | Michael Howell oversees the conditioning programs and throwing clinic for the Shoulder Center of Kentucky. He has served as the coordinator of rehab programs for major league players with the Boston Red Sox, L.A. Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians, as well as seriving as a scout for the Atlanta Braves. He has worked With numerous high schools and youth teams including 6 seasons with Chain Baseball in Savannah, Georgia. During Mike’s tenure, Chain won 7 age-division national championships, had 182 players earn college baseball scholarships and had 15 players sign professional baseball contracts.
Mike works closely with the physicians, physical therapists and certified athletic trainers at the Lexington Clinic and Shoulder Center of Kentucky to identify and address physical and mechanical concerns to help prevent injury in throwers and overhead athletes.
