Lexington Clinic Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Conference

According to the American Cancer Society, there were approximately 22,850 new cancer cases in the state of Kentucky during the year of 2007. One-third of the deaths from cancer in the state of Kentucky were attributed specifically to lung cancer. These statistics are more than numbers; they are lives.

Because of our concern for our patients, Lexington Clinic’s John D. Cronin Cancer Center now offers integrated, multidisciplinary lung cancer care. This approach focuses on a case conference system, in which highly trained physicians from various medical specialties come together to discuss individual cases of lung cancer patients. These conferences are held regularly, continuing throughout the entire treatment process in order to ensure the highest quality, most up-to-date care for each individual patient.

Due to the multidisciplinary approach the John D. Cronin Cancer Center embraces, all of the patient’s care information is documented in an electronic medical record system. The records are available to each physician involved in the patient’s comprehensive care in order to enable them to confer each other on a regular basis within this single medical practice. The specialists involved also make sure to keep the referring physicians informed during the process of diagnosis and treatment.

In addition to the collaborative discussion, the John D. Cronin Cancer Center offers many other services. The team at the John D. Cronin Cancer Center strives to offer not only quality healthcare, but also compassionate care. In order to alleviate some stress, patients may be seen by each specialty in a single day. This facility offers state-of-the-art technology, a comfortable setting, and coordinated care.
