Associate Practices FAQs
2010 - 2011 | Associated Physician Model General Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Lexington Clinic Associate Practice? What is its purpose? The landscape of healthcare is rapidly changing. In an effort to ensure we will be better positioned to continue providing exceptional care for our patients and to meet and exceed the challenges of a changing healthcare system, Lexington Clinic is partnering with high quality, dedicated physician practices. These practice affiliations will enable us to provide better patient care by allowing us to offer expanded locations and services, an increased number of physicians and better continuity of care.
Why does Lexington Clinic feel it is necessary to affiliate with other entities? What is the purpose?Lexington Clinic and affiliating practices share similar values, philosophies and goals. Affiliation creates opportunities that will help us remain competitive in patient care and technology as healthcare continues to undergo massive changes. We believe that combining forces with associate practices will result in great benefits for our patients, employees and physicians.
Is Lexington Clinic buying up smaller practices? No, but Lexington Clinic is looking to partner with high quality, dedicated physician groups with the goals of improving patient care and meeting and exceeding the challenges of a changing healthcare system.
Will affiliating practices be closing? No. As with any affiliation, there may be some changes as our organizations conform to a new infrastructure, but the physicians and staff of each practice are dedicated to serving patients as they have always done. The names of affiliating practices will remain the same.
Will affiliating practices move to another location? We do not anticipate any practices moving locations. If we do have to shift some services, we would promptly notify patients.
Will affiliating practices be able to continue accepting insurance plans not accepted by Lexington Clinic? Affiliating practices will accept only those insurances currently accepted by Lexington Clinic; however, there will be a transition period, during which time affiliating practices will work with each patient to review their out-of-network benefits and determine how to provide for their future healthcare needs.
What will happen to the patients of affiliating practices? Patients with accepted insurances will continue seeing their physicians as usual. For patients whose insurance will no longer be accepted, the affiliating practice will work with each patient to review their out-of-network benefits and determine how to provide for their future healthcare needs.
How will this affiliation benefit patient care? This affiliation will enable Lexington Clinic and associating practices to provide better patient care by allowing us to offer expanded locations and services, an increased number of physicians and better continuity of care.
Does Lexington Clinic plan to affiliate with a local hospital or insurance company?Lexington Clinic is fortunate to have relationships with many excellent local hospitals but has no intention of aligning or affiliating exclusively with any hospital or insurance company.
